World Wide Web

World Wide Web will continue to expand in the future. There are so many companies out there competing among each other, hence, contributing better services and advanced technologies to us while expanding the World Wide Web. The "cloud" is referred to as a network of servers; the competitive companies, each server has a different function in providing different services. In the article "Microsoft CEO to Focus on Mobile, Cloud Technology", Gates said "There's a challenge in mobile computing. There's an opportunity in the cloud".

Networks and Communication

Synchronous & asynchronous communications are useful in different ways depending on the time and place. Synchronous communications allow a real time communication at the same time but in a different place. It helps people engage instantly at the same time point. Synchronous communications may be useful for discussion, sharing presentation and information, and more in-depth, interactive conversations. Asynchronous communications on the other hand, allow communications at any time and place over a long period of time. It allows people to communicate conveniently at their own schedule and different time zones. Asynchronous communications may be useful for sharing comments & ideas such as blogs, one to one or one to many communications such as emails/text and provide resources and informations.

Hello!

My name is Lien Dip. I personally think that many students have anxiety over an open classroom discussion. Some students tend to get nervous to participate in class. Blogs and Twitter is a great way to have an open discussion where students can participate, post their own opinions and start conversations with classmates and professors. In a classroom where questions regarding yes or no answers are asked, there is often conformity occurring, which students will agree with the majority instead of going with their own opinion. As mentioned in the article " 60 ways to use Twitter in the classroom by category", "Social media offers some great opportunities for learning in the classroom, bringing together the ability to collaborate, access worldwide resources, and find new and interesting ways to communicate in one easily accessible place."
